Fire Glass Print

"The ability of a specimen of a separating element to contain a fire to specified criteria for collapse, freedom from holes, cracks and fissures and sustained flaming on the unexposed face" - Pilkington

Insulation

"The ability of a glazed screen or door to limit the temperature rise on the non-fire side to 140° overall (or maximum of 180° spot reading)"

We can offer brands that range from safety ratings ‘C' to ‘A' and integrity levels of 30 minutes to 120 minutes.

Pyroguard (7.2mm + 11.4mm)

7.2mm Pyroguard can be used in the following systems:

  • Timber doors and screens for periods of 30mins integrity
  • Steel screens for periods of 30mins integrity

7.2 Pyroguard may be made into Double Glazed Units to provide 30 minutes integrity.  The unit shall comprise one pane of 7.2 Pyroguard clear glass and the other either 6mm tempered glass or 6mm annealed float glass (including Low E glass).  The 7.2mm Pyroguard clear glass face shall be orientated towards the fire risk side.  Double Glazed Units may be provided in single pane assemblies i.e. multi-pane glazed screens may not be glazed with Double Glazed Units.

The glass shall be glazed into the screen with ceramic fibre gasket between the glass faces and the beads (K tape)

11.4 Pyroguard clear glass when used in timber screens, steel screens and door leaves provides periods of 60 and 30 minutes integrity respectively, as defined in BS 476: Part 22:1987

Pyrodur & Pyrodur Plus

Pyrodur is a completely clear fire-resistant glass offering integrity and partial insulation through laminated intumescent interlayers.  It restricts the spread of flames, smoke and hot gases, achieving 60 minutes integrity together with partial heat insulation and Class B impact performance to BS 6206 and Class 1 (B) 1 to BS EN 12600: 2002.

Pyrodur Plus is ideal for internal glazing applications containing one specially designed intumescent layer.  It achieves 30 minutes integrity with an insulation performance of up to 15 minutes, with exceptionally low levels of transmitted radiant heat.

Pyran

Pyran S Fire Resistant Glass has been approved for use in large sizes and in a range of thicknesses to meet most fire-resistant glazing applications demanding integrity ratings.  It is a toughened borosilicate glass which is produced by the float process to provide a high quality surface finish.

Pyrobel

Pyrobel is a multi-laminated glass assembled with clear intumescent interlayers.
In case of fire, these interlayers expand at around 120ºC and transform into a rigid and opaque fire shield, which enables the glazing to meet the integrity and insulation criteria of BS 476: Part 22: 1987.

Pyroshield

The original fire-resistant glass.  This monolithic wired glass which effectively holds the product in place in case of thermal shock achieves 60 minutes integrity in timber frames, even when fractured or sprayed with water.

Pyrostop

Pyrostop is a clear, multi-laminate fire-resistant glass.  It forms an opaque barrier against smoke, flames and heat during a fire, achieving 120 minutes insulation and integrity in suitable glazing systems.
